Care and Handling Tips

Light

• Ideal: Bright, indirect light (east or west-facing window).

• Avoid: Direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

• Use a sheer curtain if needed to filter intense light.

Temperature

• Day: 70–85°F (21–29°C)

• Night: 60–70°F (15–21°C)

• Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature drops.

Watering

• Water once a week, allowing the potting medium to dry slightly between waterings.

• Reduce watering frequency in winter.

• Use room-temperature water; avoid wetting the crown (center of the plant) to prevent rot.

Humidity

• Prefers 50–70% humidity.

• Use a humidity tray or a room humidifier if air is dry.

• Grouping plants can also help maintain higher humidity levels.

Fertilizing

• Use a balanced orchid fertilizer (e.g., 20-20-20) diluted to half strength every 2 weeks during the growing season.

• Reduce to monthly during winter.

Potting and Medium

• Repot every 1–2 years using a well-draining orchid mix (bark-based is best).

• Choose a pot with drainage holes to prevent root rot.

Flower Spike Care

• After blooms fall, you can:

  • Cut the spike back to just above a node to encourage reblooming.
