Description

Dendrobium brown splash is a hybrid orchid known for its unique brown and yellow flowers, which often have a “fire flame” appearance. This variety is considered relatively easy to care for, especially compared to other orchids, and is well-suited for beginners. Key care requirements include bright, indirect sunlight, moderate to high humidity, and proper watering, allowing the potting medium to dry slightly between waterings. 

• Flowers: Brown petals with yellow edges and a yellow-bordered lip, giving a “fire flame” or “splash” appearance.
• Fragrance: No fragrance.
• Type: A hybrid orchid within the large Dendrobium genus.
• Origin: The Dendrobium genus originates from Southeast Asia, Australia, and Japan. 

• Light: Bright, filtered, or indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.
• Temperature: Prefers warm days (70−85∘F70 minus 85 raised to the composed with power cap F
  70−85∘𝐹 or 21−29∘C21 minus 29 raised to the composed with power cap C21−29∘𝐶) and cooler nights (55−65∘F55 minus 65 raised to the composed with power cap F55−65∘ 𝐹or 13−18∘C13 minus 18 raised to the composed with power cap C13−18∘𝐶) to stimulate blooming.

• Humidity: Moderate to high humidity is preferred. Increase humidity with a humidity tray or humidifier if needed.
• Watering: Water thoroughly when the top layer of the potting medium is slightly dry. Reduce watering frequency in winter.
• Fertilizer: Use a balanced orchid fertilizer at 1/4 to 1/2 strength during the growing season.
• Potting: Typically grown in a coconut husk or similar airy medium. Repot only when the medium breaks down or the pot is crowded. 

• This is often sold as a “ready to flower” or “blooming size” plant.
• It can be a vigorous and prolific bloomer, often flowering multiple times a year.
• The flowers or buds may dry up in transit during shipping, which is normal.
• To increase humidity, you can mist the plant or place it on a pebble tray filled with water.
• Ensure good air movement around the plant to prevent fungal issues.
