🛠️ Handling & Care Instructions

1. Light Requirements

  • Bright, filtered light (similar to Cattleya orchids)

  • Can tolerate some direct morning sun, but protect from harsh midday sunlight

  • Insufficient light = poor blooming

2. Temperature & Humidity

  • Day temperatures: 25-30°C (77-86°F)

  • Night temperatures: 15-20°C (59-68°F)

  • Loves high humidity (50-70%)

  • Good air circulation is essential to prevent rot

3. Watering

  • Allow the roots to dry out slightly between watering

  • Use the “soak and dry” method, especially if mounted or in baskets

  • In hot weather: water daily or every 2 days

  • In cooler seasons: water 2-3 times a week

  • Avoid keeping the plant constantly wet, as it is prone to rot

4. Potting & Medium

  • Best grown mounted on wood, cork, or tree fern

  • Alternatively, use small pots or baskets with large, chunky bark or no media

  • Good drainage is a must

  • Repot or clean up every 1-2 years to prevent media breakdown

5. Fertilizing

  • Feed with a balanced orchid fertilizer (20-20-20) diluted to half-strength

  • Fertilize weekly during active growth

  • Reduce feeding during winter or cooler periods

6. Flowering & Aftercare

  • Blooming typically occurs in spring and fall, but can vary

  • After flowers fade, trim spent spikes to encourage new growth

  • Provide extra light to stimulate flower spike production

7. Common Problems

  • Root rot (due to overwatering)

  • Leaf spotting from water sitting in leaf axils (shake off excess water)

  • Spider mites and scale insects in dry conditions — keep humidity up and check leaves regularly

Quick Tips

  • Bright light, airy environment

  • Water thoroughly but let dry between waterings

  • Mounting is ideal for good air flow

  • Regular feeding for healthy blooms
