The Dendrobium (Lzumi x Grating Blue) is a hybrid orchid known for its striking blooms, which typically feature shades of blue, violet, or lavender with a velvety texture and often a white or darker lip. Like most Dendrobiums, it has upright canes (pseudobulbs) that store water and nutrients, and its leaves are typically narrow and elongated. This hybrid inherits robust traits from both parents, making it relatively easy to care for with the right environment.

🌿 Care & Handling Tips:

🪴 1. Light:

  • Prefers bright, indirect light (east or south-facing windows are ideal).

  • Avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch leaves.

🌡️ 2. Temperature:

  • Thrives in intermediate to warm conditions.

    • Day: 22–30°C (72–86°F)

    • Night: 15–20°C (59–68°F)

💧 3. Watering:

  • Water thoroughly when the top 1–2 inches of medium is dry.

  • Reduce watering in winter or when the plant enters dormancy.

  • Ensure good drainage—never let the plant sit in water.

💨 4. Humidity:

  • Prefers 50–70% humidity.

  • Use a humidity tray or humidifier if air is dry.

🌱 5. Potting Medium:

  • Use a well-draining orchid mix (e.g., bark, perlite, and charcoal).

  • Repot every 2–3 years or when the medium breaks down.

🌸 6. Fertilizer:

  • Feed with a balanced orchid fertilizer (20-20-20) diluted to half strength every 2 weeks during active growth.

  • Reduce or stop feeding in cooler, dormant months.

✂️ 7. Pruning and Handling:

  • After flowering, cut the spent flower spikes near the base.

  • Do not cut healthy green canes—they may still store nutrients or produce future blooms.

  • Handle gently to avoid damaging canes or new roots.

⚠️ 8. Common Issues:

  • Yellowing leaves: Overwatering or insufficient light.

  • Wrinkled canes: Usually due to underwatering or root rot.

  • No blooms: Needs a temperature drop between day and night to trigger flowering.
